I hope that other major artists quickly follow. That could cause Spotify to reconsider what Rogan is really worth to them.

Clearly Young by himself doesn't have enough suck to move Spotify. However it's not hard to imagine a critical mass of artists asserting themselves: Drake, Taylor Swift, Ariana Grande, BTS. That is a huge base of Spotify spins. Then they'd have a real problem.

It’s about time!!!!

They won't follow. Because of personal profit, and because Young's decision to frame his protest in the language of ultimatum doomed his effort from the beginning. Removing his music, with a statement, challenging Spotify to speak to his complaint after the fact, that would have been a principled and effective strategy. #fail, Neil.

I'd like to insert "short" to your description of Rogan, Tom: "A [short], longwinded talker..." @mavenworks Rogan is telling everyone who is young and healthy not to get the vaccine. Big problem with that. Free speech is one thing, selling snake oil and misinformation is not.

Thanks for taking a stand Neil. Hope others follow your lead. Time for people to switch to Amazon music.

it's actually not vaccine mis information (I wont bore you with reams of data around that) rather i'll just remind you that its another point of view and part of what we value here, a right to expression. And ironic that the singer who sings to us to keep on rocking in the free world is a bit of a hypocrite by not supporting free speech.

what is he afraid of? are we so incapable of making up our own minds?

Or is it just the ongoing censorship of our medical voices? how is this "vaccine mis information" when my teenager is required to have a vaccination to finish high school, a vaccination that is more harmful to him than the disease, which he has already recovered from and acquired immunity for? I would prefer to say it is gross malpractice and criminal. mis information doesn't quite cut it.

and if you want to just cut to direct experience of this "miss information" you can contact some of these folks here:

Joe Rogan might be an idiot but thats up to you to make up your mind about. and if you have a mind enough to disagree, you can simply not listen to him.

Tell Neil it's almost as stupid as suggesting that we should cancel Leonard Cohen because he is depressing and could cause harm.

if the musicians need to unite, its maybe about not playing at shows that demand vax mandates to get in, countless shows that have ironically been cancelled because all the vaxed people end up getting covid.

Mandates don't work, vaccines are a personal choice and censorship is evil. we have been

through this already - ask any European who has a grandparent. so yeah so long Neil!

Meanwhile although I might not agree with your politics Tom, I love this substack and your taste in music. thanks for all the good work ;)
