Thanks for this Brad Kyle! It didn't occur to me that Scope would have only been issued in Europe! It's probably indicated in the Discogs listing somewhere -- I'm going to have to check this in the future...and then thinking about radio in 74-75, yeah this would have been a stretch for some progressive stations, esp the second record. too improvisational....thanks!
Great informational article, Tom, about a band I'd never heard of (and couldn't figure out why)! Then, I checked, and neither album, while on Atlantic, enjoyed a domestic release (U.S.). At the same time, I noticed that Billboard included the debut album on their "FM Action" list – which lists albums that have been played by "leading progressive stations" across the U.S.
So, while some FM stations were playing the import (they did that more than some people realize), it's curious why Atlantic never opted to release the album here (in the States). When I landed at my first pro FM rock station (Houston's KLOL) in '75, I don't recall seeing the album in our control room (or in the late '70s in our import sections at the record store I worked at), or I might've played 'em!
All this blather just to say it was cool getting introduced to the band and the albums through you, Tom! Thanks! I suspect this will be the first intro to them for other Stateside readers!
