For me the Tim reissue is the best example of audio “upgrading” that expands our understanding of a record. The Waits ones I’ve heard (Rain Dogs & Franks) seem hit and miss -- sometimes enhancing the percussion, sometimes leaving guitar and bass unchanged.
Phil, your right, it reeks like quad. Why atmos ? Even in the theater you need to be sitting in the correct place. Labels are constantly trying to make money with zero investment.
