Sigh.
That anguished sound from the community of musicians this week? That was the collective realization that Bandcamp, the lone Internet outlet endeavoring to treat the creations of musicians fairly, just got swallowed up by the folks who brought you Fortnite. This Randell Roberts story in the LA Times offers the necessary context as well as insights from folks in these overlapping but not entirely aligned realms.
Just one more sliver of uncertainty in a fluxy world….but before we let utter despair set in, let’s remember that it’s Friday, and possibly the last Bandcamp Friday as we know it. Please go check some of the inspiring sounds made by (mostly) independent artists who have posted on Bandcamp. Below are a few possible jumping-off spots out of literally gazillions….

Hi Tom. Years ago we spoke about an opening for a writer for the Providence Journal. Times have changed. The Providence Journal announced this week it was no longer to publish weekly arts/music/community listings. You know firsthand what has happened to arts/music coverage in the past 35 years.
